Simple Keys to HealthHealth is a key element to success and there's no point in
pursuing a wealth creation journey if you neglect your health along the
way.
Naturally you can afford to pamper yourself a little more when you have better
cash flow, but there are several simple things you can do right now to ensure
you arrive at your financial destination looking and feeling great.
There are two important reasons for maintaining your health as you work towards
financial freedom:
- You need your wits about you. A healthy body will enable
your brain to function at a higher level, allowing you to absorb new
information easily, as well as to retain and recall it. And you need
a clear head to make those key decisions that will take you where you
want to go. It's a major handicap to be battling foggy thinking when
you're dealing with such a life-altering goal as wealth creation.
- Secondly, you will need a vast reserve
of energy to pursue any comprehensive wealth creation program, whether it
focuses on business, real estate or the stock market. You need to stay
alert for opportunities, and be flexible when you make mistakes so that you
can either correct them or choose another alternative. And you need energy
to put in the initial hours required to get some momentum
happening.
Here are some basic activities that will improve or maintain your health
without requiring too much time. Most of us know these things but we sometimes
need a little push to remind us to actually do them.
The 10 Step Bare Minimum Health Maintenance
Program
- Take a daily multivitamin and mineral
supplement.
- Eat clean, live, and nourishing
food.
- Detoxify your body regularly.
- Drink clean water.
- Breathe fresh air.
- Exercise your body.
- Go for a walk.
- Meditate.
- Detoxify your environment.
- Laugh every day.
Here's the plan in more detail:
-
Take a daily multivitamin and mineral supplement with
breakfast.
Many nutritionists maintain that the soils in most regions on earth
are so depleted of minerals that our plants contain very little. If
follows that most people on the planet are mineral deficient, which can
lead to a host of life threatening conditions over time.
Dr Joel Wallach, author of Dead Doctors Don't Lie, claims to have
discovered one of the best sources of plant derived minerals on the
planet and offers his products via a network marketing
structure.
-
Eat clean, live, and nourishing food.
Nature provides us with food in the form of fruits, vegetables,
grains and herbs. Whether we choose to supplement those food sources by
eating animal products is a personal choice.
It seems that the more we move away from what Nature provides and reply
on secondary food sources, the sicker we become. While the healthiest
people on earth – the Hunzakut, the Vilcabamba and Titicaca Indians,
and the rural Russian Georgians and their neighbors – may not be true
vegetarians, their diets are not built around meat, eggs and dairy but
rather include them as secondary sources of nourishment. And until
recently they knew nothing of processed foods and Western medicine.
If you've looked into health and diet on any level, you'll have no
doubt discovered that for every positive argument in favor of a
particular diet, there is an equally vehement opposing one. Each of us
must decide for ourselves what makes sense to us and what we're willing
to experiment with.
Books on diet and health that we've enjoyed reading over the years
include:
-
Eat small, regular meals.
Rather than eating three heavy meals per day, many nutritionists
suggest experimenting with 5-6 smaller meals staggered throughout the
day. One way to do this is to eat additional small meals at mid-morning
and mid-afternoon. You might also consider taking an HCL tablet or
digestive enzymes to ensure your food is adequately digested.
If you live alone or don't have anyone to cook your meals, one
timesaving strategy is to prepare your foods once a day so you can put
together a meal quickly. Lettuce can be broken apart, washed and stored
in a container for salads, along with tomatoes, cucumbers, and other
vegetables used for the same purpose. Vegetables for cooking can be
peeled and/or chopped at night while you're watching a video. Keep
fruits on hand for convenient snacks.
Many cultures have varying customs when it comes to eating patterns. In
Switzerland, lunch is often the heaviest meal of the day while dinner
consists of light fare. In contrast, within many Latin countries dinner
occurs late in the day following the afternoon siesta, and is usually an
elaborate affair. Italy is the home of the Slow Food movement, which
seeks to counteract the rise of the fast food industry, emphasizing
meals that last hours and include several courses, peppered by lively
conversation. It's a great custom to indulge in at least once a week
with people whose company you enjoy.

Detoxify your body regularly.
The notion of detoxifying the body is ancient and is a part of all
forms of natural disease reversal. Some people take time off to do this
once a year (over a 1-2 week period), others schedule a detox week
twice a year, while the more zealous do it quarterly. One simple method
is to take one day each weekend (usually Sunday) and eat nothing but
fruits and juices, followed by a salad for dinner.
There are several ways to detoxify the body. From the most difficult to
the easiest they include:
- Fasting (water only)
- Juice Fasting
- Mono fruit diet (e.g., 3 days
of raw apples)
- Raw Food Diet
- Enemas or colonics
- Herbals cleansers
Any good health food store will offer a variety of books on this
subject. You might want to consult with a naturopath or holistic doctor
before setting out on a cleansing program. For someone in an unhealthy
condition, a too rapid detoxification can lead to drastic symptoms.
-
Drink clean water.
The simplest method is to drink eight glasses of spring, filtered or
rain water per day. One way to keep track is to place eight colored
stones on your desk or workbench, then move them one by one to an
opposite corner every time you drink a glass.
Some experts disagree with drinking what they feel is excessive water,
so they offer the following alternatives:
- Eat lots of water-bearing
fruits and vegetables
- Drink freshly squeezed fruit
juices
-
Breathe fresh air
There are many breathing systems to choose from, including:
- Yoga
- Breath of Life
- Tibetan
- Himalayan
Choose one you enjoy and practice it for a few minutes each day, either
first thing in the morning or last thing at night. You may want to take
an oxygen supplement as well.
-
Exercise your body
You may choose to do 15-30 minutes of yoga, Pilates, weight lifting
or some form of aerobic exercise three times per week. Or you can
experiment with the five Tibetan rites outlined in Peter Kelder's
book, Ancient Secret
of the Fountain of Youth, which claims to rejuvenate your body and
take years off your appearance.

-
Walk
Walking is the easiest exercise to do. Do 20-30 minutes three times
a week to clear your brain, stimulate your circulation and exercise the
lower body. Add some leg and/or wrist weights to enhance the
benefits.
You can also use some of your walking time to listen to tapes or CDs on
your Walkman.
-
Meditate
There is an incredible array of relaxation tapes available both
online and offline. Choose someone with a soothing voice and evocative
delivery, such as Tad James and Brandon Bays. Listen to soothing music
by Kirtana. Sample the various sound therapy products by Patricia
Joudry, Holosync and Robert Monroe.

-
Detoxify your environment
Look into replacing toxic household cleansers with more
environmentally friendly, biodegradable products. Place a pillow filled
with Epsom salts on your lap to absorb radiation from your
computer.
One of our favorite books on this subject is Robin Stewart's Chemical Free
Home.
-
Take the time to laugh every day.
Have some good comedy videos, tapes or CDs on hand. Or hang out with
funny people.
