Gary Halbert Dies
April 14, 2007
Hello,

It's been a very sad week in the marketing world. Gary Halbert, one of the true copywriting legends, died in his sleep last weekend on Easter Sunday.

If you're a fan of this man's blunt, humorous and no-holds-barred approach to creating wildly successful advertising copy, you'll want to read the moving tributes featured on the blog of his best friend, John Carlton, at John Carlton.com.

And if you're doing any form of marketing and you haven't yet been exposed to Gary Halbert's genius, you can visit his web site at The Gary Halbert Newsletter and spend some time soaking up what you've missed. His sons, Kevin and Bond, have decided to keep the web site operational so you'll have access to all of Gary's archives.

Michel Fortin, another very successful student of Gary's, offers free access to four hours of recorded interviews with Gary and John Carlton on his blog. You'll find it at MichelFortin.com.

And finally, Australian copywriter Brett McFall wrote a great newsletter on his blog after returning from a Gary Halbert workshop in 2002. It will give you a taste of Gary's approach to writing ad copy. To read it, go to BrettMcFall.com.

Gary, rest in peace. You will be greatly missed.
